Climate change refers to long-term alterations in the Earth’s climate system, primarily caused by human activities, resulting in global warming, shifts in weather patterns, and other adverse effects. It is an ongoing phenomenon that is predicted to worsen in the future, posing significant challenges to ecosystems, societies, and the overall well-being of the planet. According to a global estimation, in case countries keep global temperature rise to 1.5 Celsius degree as set out in the Paris Agreement, vulnerable countries can expect to suffer an average GDP hit of -13.1% by 2050 and -33.1% by 2100 due to climate change.
